STL Rock School has re-imagined the way that we teach music so you or your child love to play. By using a combination of modern music and traditional music theory, you’ll learn using the music that you love. There’s no reason to pull teeth – you can learn music theory from any genre of music!

Now, this isn’t like going to the guitar shop where all you’ll learn is songs. You’ll still learn the foundation of music that will set you up for success, but you’ll do it in a way that connects you to the music you love.

Ultimately, you’ll head off to band, where you’ll experience music the way the professionals do!

Guitar Lessons

No matter what type of music you're interested in or how long you've played, STL Rock School is the place to help you or your child thrive on the guitar. By using a combination of traditional music theory and modern music, we'll help teach you the guitar using the music that you love. Our innovative approach will help you learn in an easy and fun way. We teach electric, acoustic, and classical guitar. Let us help you find your passion! Students can expect to work on chords, songs, melodies sight-reading, and theory. The goal is to bring out you or your child's creativity!

Ukulele Lessons

Ukuleles are great ways for both young students and old learn how to play a string instrument! They're also great ways for students to learn how to sing and play an instrument at the same time. No matter what type of music you're interested in or how long you've played, STL Rock School is the place to help you or your child thrive on the ukulele! 

Drum Lessons

Rock School offers drum lessons for all skill levels. Drum students learn beat playing, drum fills and rudiments. As students progress, they begin to expand their musical knowledge beyond rock into the world of jazz and Latin rhythms. All drum students learn how to read standard rhythmic notation.

Music Production

Electronic music has increasingly become a standard in modern music. Whether you're interested in the recording process, or would like to learn how to program on your computer, STL Rock School is happy to provide music production classes for students ages 8 and up. Students work primarily in Ableton, although Rock School can work with other programs upon request. Students are all encouraged to have their own computer so they can continue making music at home!

Bass Guitar Lessons

Rock School offers bass instruction for all skill levels. Bass students learn how to read both bass clef and bass tablature. Students learn about chordal theory, scales, harmony, and building bass lines in unison with the bass drum. Advanced level bass students delve deeper into music theory and walking bass as well as more syncopated styles such as funk and reggae.

Piano Lessons

The piano is often thought of the ideal starting place for kids to learn music, but what often times misses the benefits of having such a visual instrument! Music is a language, which means it should be taught by imitation and play before getting into theory. Our instructors teach students using whatever type of music they love: pop, rock, classical, jazz, blues, etc. If you enjoy what you're playing, you'll be excited to practice! Piano is one of the few hobbies you can give your child that will last a lifetime!

Voice Lessons

Singing helps to develop confidence, strength, and overall musical ability, which has a huge impact on almost every single aspect of life. Rock School helps people of all ages and skill levels develop their voice to be a powerful instrument. We teach beginning to advanced students the proper techniques and skills they need to become a skilled vocalist.
